Want to lower your sodium intake? Clearly you do because you are on Salt-free.com. The best way to reduce your sodium intake (or even that of a family member) is to have a plan to manage it. The best way to manage something is by measuring it and controlling the sodium in your diet is no different. I recently found a cool way to use MyFitnessPal app to keep track of all my daily sodium intake. Here is a quick intro on how to use this app if you haven’t used it before.
How to Enter Food and Track Your Macros
This part is fairly simple, especially when you use to MyFitnessPal. I’ll be honest the app has a lot of bells and whistles. It probably could use a cleaner interface but that is UnderArmor’s job. Here are some simple steps to help you log your food.
1.) To get started, click the Diary button at the bottom of the screen.
2.) Then click the “Add food” button below the corresponding meal (breakfast, lunch, dinner, or snacks)
The best part about adding foods is that MyFitnessPal’s database is extensive and the barcode scanner makes it really easy to add foods. What I found to be really helpful is to actually plan what you want to eat the night before and add it preemptively.
Make sure you add the appropriate serving size. I find it really helpful to use a digital food scale (here is one from Greater Goods, that I really like and is well reviewed on Amazon
3.) Follow up on your sodium and other nutrients
Scroll all the way down to the bottom and click the Nutrition button. To find all your daily sodium intake, click the Nutrients tab.
